Aladdin’s Brand Redesign
As a personal project, I chose a few local restaurants and redesigned their menus and logos. One of the restaurants I chose was Aladdin’s Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Cuisine. I wanted to give the brand a fresh clean look that paid homage to the owner’s country of birth, Türkiye (Turkey). I ended up taking this project a step further to encompass a more thorough re-branding of the company.
This is a fictional re-branding of a real company.

Creating the Logo
The first step I took when starting this project was to research Turkish culture. Since the owner is from Turkey, I wanted the brand to show that. I decided to use the tulip as the primary symbol for the logo because it is the national flower of Türkiye. I then stylized the tulip after a Turkish ceramic tile pattern I found. When I was deciding on the new brand colors, I noticed a colorfully painted brick wall in Aladdin’s main dining room. I used a photo of the wall to color-pick all the brand colors.
Redesigning the Menu
After creating the logo, I used the logomark to make a pattern for the edges of the menu. The most challenging part of this project was formatting the layout of the text and photographs to align with the general menu hierarchy and still keep the design from feeling too busy.

Continuing the Brand

For the rest of this project, I expanded the brand to include packaging, uniforms, and a food truck to use for festivals to market the restaurant.
Aladdin’s only serves their food in takeout containers, so I designed container sleeves, stickers, and takeout bags to carry the brand inexpensively.
